A community development leader and social entrepreneur serving as General Secretary of the All India Muslim Development Council. He has been closely involved in initiatives focused on strengthening Muslim institutions, developing future leadership and promoting socio-economic advancement within the community.

He is a key driving force behind the Masjid One Movement, an initiative that seeks to revive Masjids as active community development centres — addressing education, healthcare, employment, economic development and social welfare alongside their central religious role.

Through AIMDC he has also played a leading role in the 40 Under 40 Leaders Initiative, created to identify, nurture and connect emerging Muslim leaders from across India, and to develop a new generation of changemakers committed to community and nation-building.

With experience spanning community leadership, entrepreneurship and business development, he brings a practical perspective on how stronger institutions, leadership networks and economic opportunities contribute to the long-term development of the community.

Director and Consultant Psychiatrist at Ummeed Deaddiction & Rehab Centre, where she leads the clinical work. She holds a master’s degree in Psychiatry from MES Medical College, with a career spanning well over a decade.

Her leadership at Ummeed reflects a commitment to addressing addiction through a holistic approach, combining medical proficiency with compassion.

She works in English, Kannada, Hindi, Urdu and Malayalam, so patients in her care receive treatment without a language barrier. Her specialisms include acute care, child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry and de-addiction.

She provides consultation for those in need at the Hajee Sir Ismail Sait & Rotary Dispensary, and runs the Maanasi mental health programme.

Beyond clinical practice she mentors students in clinical psychology and psychiatry, helping prepare the next generation of mental health professionals.

An Islamic speaker since 1995, he has spent more than three decades in Da’wah, Islamic education and media, delivering lectures and courses on Islamic teachings and contemporary issues.

A counselling and spiritual psychologist with over 8,500 hours of clinical practice across a wide range of diverse and complex case presentations. Recognised for her work advancing Islamic Psychology in India, she works at the intersection of faith and mental health, integrating contemporary psychological practice with Islamic psychological frameworks in clinical case conceptualisation, formulation, intervention, training and supervision.

She trains and mentors students, mental-health professionals and emerging practitioners internationally, with a particular focus on case conceptualisation and formulation through an Islamic psychological framework, alongside practitioner development and supervision.

She has contributed to raising awareness about mental health through interviews, expert commentary and writing across national and international platforms, including Al Jazeera, The Deccan Herald, The Wire, The Quint, The Scroll, The Companion, The Cognate, The Productive Muslim, Maktoob Media, Muslim Matters, News 9, IOU Insight Magazine, India Today and Salar Digital.

Academic and professional contributions

She has presented research papers at national and international forums, including the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (5th Asia Pacific Conference), the VIII International Symposium on Spirituality and Psychology at Kütahya Dumlupınar University, Türkiye, the International Conference on Islamic Psychology in Indonesia, the International Conference on Counseling and Psychotherapy, the 8th National Women’s Science Congress (Matru Vedike), and the National Conference on Stress and Health.

She is co-author, with Dr. Amber Haque, of the chapter “Student Clinical Case Reports in Islamic Psychology: A Synthesis, Critical Appraisal, and Research Agenda”, published in Islamic Psychology Interventions.

Her areas of expertise include relationships, Islamic Psychology, the nafs and the architecture of the human soul, emotional regulation, women’s psychology, temperamental science, Qur’anic anthropology of the human being, fitrah and abnormality, relational triggers and interpersonal relationships, child development and parenting, marital enrichment, youth development, addictions, and destigmatising mental health.

She is committed to developing a holistic bio-psycho-social-spiritual model of care, encouraging collaboration between psychiatrists, psychologists and spiritual practitioners while remaining attentive to the individual’s faith, culture, context and psychological needs.

In 2025 she was recognised as one of the “40 Under 40 Leaders” by the All India Muslim Development Council.
